Karan Johar’s students are back to meet their mentor. Even though both have been on this season, they came to promote their new film Badrinath Ki Dulhaniya.
One would think Johar has already asked Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan everything there is to know about these newcomers, but there were quite a few surprising revelations made over steaming cups of coffee.
The Violent Kids
What’s the reason for the crackling chemistry between Alia and Varun?
Ever since the first time they met for their first film, Student of the Year, the two have been very competitive with one another.
Dhawan also revealed that he’s seen Johar’s violent streak when he yelled at him and Sidharth Malhotra during the shoot of STOY, during a fight scene!
As for the “couple” in question?
Apparently, they have also had a lot of fights on set, when Alia was playing a dulhaniya to both Bardinath and Humpty Sharma.
Squad Goals
When asked about their relationship status, both of them said that they have been through a lot of ups and downs. They started off being very close, then they drifted apart, didn’t stay in touch and now are back to being close and comfortable with one another.
Varun said he feels very protectively about Alia.

Alia said that she feels elated when she hears people calling Varun the country’s biggest star and both of them also agreed on the fact that they feel protective about Sidharth Malhotra and he feels the same way for them.
Twinning?
After making it amply clear they are not in a relationship, giving major squad goals, the duo went on to banter like kids and even revealed how their directors often call them siblings.

Cry Me a River
Alis Bhatt revealed she’s quite emotional and has cried during the shoot of all the films she has starred in. While Johar jokingly blamed Dhawan for her tears, he also said she cries for the strangest of all reasons.
Varun Dhawan actually shot a video Alia crying because there was no food at the set they were shooting at.

When asked during rapid fire, who Varun Dhawan considers his biggest competitors, he may have given the randomest answer anyone could have imagined.

The answer was so surprising, that even Johar sat agape, wondering how to react to that statement! But Dhawan clarified he was drunk when he named them, soooo...not serious.
