Noted Film and Television Actress Vidya Sinha Passes Away at 71

Vidya Sinha breathed her last at a private hospital in Juhu where she was rushed last Sunday for breathing problems.

Veteran Bollywood actress Vidya Sinha, known for her role in the Basu Chatterjee film Rajnigandha (1974), passed away after battling multiple ailments at a Mumbai hospital on Thursday, 15 August, family sources told IANS.

She was 71 and breathed her last at a private hospital in Juhu, where she was rushed last Sunday after complaining of severe breathing problems.

She had been put on a ventilator but the actor failed to recover and passed away at around 1 pm.

She is also a well-known television actress and her show, Kulfi Kumar Bajewala, was well received.

After giving hits including Pati, Patni Aur Woh and Chhoti Si Baat, Vidya made a comeback in television serials like Kavyanjali, Bahu Rani, Zaara, Bhabhi and her most recent show Kulfi Kumar Bajewala. She was also seen in the Salman Khan-starrer Bodyguard.

Sinha had been missing from the serial on account of her illness but had returned for shooting a few weeks ago.

Some Bollywood celebrities took to Twitter to offer condolences. Bhumi Pednekar, who will play Vidya Sinha’s character in Pati, Patni Aur Woh remake, said that it “breaks her heart to know that she has passed away.”
