The Bombay High Court on Friday ruled in favour of filmmaker Abhishek Kapoor in a case he had filed demanding joint credit with Pubali Chaudhuri for sharing the writing credit on Rock On 2. After the court’s ruling, Farhan Akhtar’s production house Excel Entertainment also consented. The writer and filmmaker said that he was ‘heartbroken’ on not being given credit for the script of the sequel.
I feel vindicated because this has been going on for a couple of years now. I have struggled with this, and eventually, I had to go to the court to get my credit. But now that it’s done, I’m feeling great. I had full faith in the country’s judiciary. I’m happy that they have given such an impeccable judgement. I’m also thankful to my lawyers who had faith in me, and who stood by me.
Abhishek Kapoor, Filmmaker
The conflict began when Pubali registered the sequel with the Film Writers Association (FWA) in her name only, denying Abhishek credit for his role in the scripting process.
