While Aamir Khan recently tweeted saying that it has been a dream to work with TV star Sakshi Tanwar in Dangal, the actress herself feels that the universe has been extremely generous for giving her a part in the Nitesh Tiwari film. Funnily enough, Sakshi recounts that when she got a phone call about Dangal, she thought it was a mean prank.
In this behind-the-scenes video, both Aamir and Nitesh talk about how Sakshi Tanwar was an unconventional choice for the role of Daya Kaur, Aamir Khan’s on-screen wife. But they go on to say that they were both taken aback by her screen presence and talent during the audition.
Sakshi carries off a Haryanvi accent with such elan. Director Nitesh Tiwari says that Sakshi had never crossed his mind as an option. In fact, even Aamir Khan says that he got the idea of casting her from his mother, who was aware of Sakshi’s acting prowess through her television performances.
Sakshi gets so carried away in a scene that she tears up easily. She also loves how ‘kadak’ Haryanvi sounds, and it’s a language she enjoys and understands well, thanks to having grown up in Alwar.
One day the universe decided to be generous and I became a part of Dangal.Sakshi Tanwar, Actress
