Speaking to Mumbai Mirror, SRK explains that their film is “not a copy, or a takeaway from it”. The star goes on to say that like the Billy Crystal-Meg Ryan film is “a classic love story with sweetness and sadness, love and heartbreak”.
“Not a Teenybopper Romance”
In the interview Shah Rukh also stresses that the film is not a ‘bubblegum romance’ because he is “not at an age to be doing teenage love stories... I am not a teenybopper... I play Harinder Singh Nehra aka Harry whose live abroad...”.
Imtiaz Ali = Yash Chopra
Shah Rukh also called filmmaker Imtiaz Ali “a modern day Yash Chopra”. “Imtiaz Ali believes in love... classic, unconditional love. He always shoots his films abroad, and loves food” explains Shah Rukh comparing Imtiaz to Chopra.
SRK Hasn’t Seen Jab We Met
However, it comes as a surprise that Shah Rukh is yet to fully see Imtiaz’s biggest box-office success, Jab We Met. The actor reveals that he has just seen parts of the film, which were shown to him by his daughter Suhana. Also, SRK loved Imtiaz’s debut film, Socha Na Tha, and ranks it higher than Jab We Met.
