To many, Shah Rukh Khan’s film Raees could remind them of the good ol’ gangster films of 70s; to some, it also brings to mind Shakespeare’s tragic rise and fall of a hero. But to us, Raees is more than just a movie. It’s a perfect case study for marketing/ finance class in a management course. You know, something like... ‘Aa raha hoon main’, in a classroom near you.
But jokes apart. If you haven’t already seen the movie, then maybe you should watch it, even if it’s just to get some ‘muft ka finance gyaan’ from Professor Raees. Psst! The lesson lasts for nearly two-and-a-half hours. So try to be attentive in class.
Start Young
To yield a good positive outcome, you need a long term investment. Well, that’s exactly why you must start young, just like how Raees bhaijaan did. His ‘baniya ka dimaag’ helped him to make some useful contacts to build his own empire. SRK’s character knew what he was good at and worked his way to become a Raees man. Never have “udhar ka nazariya” but definitely keep a “chaukas nazar (sharp insight).”
Diversify Portfolios
Life is short so why restrict yourself to one portfolio? Same logic is applicable when you invest your money. Raees started off as a bootlegger, and then ventured into a new profession – politics. He later expanded his business to include real estate – ‘Apni Duniya’ colony. Every portfolio might not be as lucrative as the other, but it’s always a safe investment to get maximum gain.
Product Marketing
Where there is a way, there is a will... That was Raees’s attitude when it came to his dhanda. The man could sell alcohol in teapots, school bags or even alcohol injected tomatoes. That’s the very same baniya ka dimaag and miyabhai ki daring required by every businessman or company.
Customer loyalty
Raees ki basti stood beside him just like fevicol ki chipak. Customer loyalty is one of the most difficult assets for any business. We need to rely on our pure and pious customers to sustain the brand and the identity in the market.
