Ae Dil Hai Mushkil director Karan Johar didn’t meet Home Minister Rajnath Singh personally, but Apoorva Mehta, the CEO of Dharma Productions, along with Mukesh Bhatt and other members of the film fraternity, were assured by him of the government’s full support for the film’s peaceful release on 28 October.

Ae Dil Hai Mushkil has been facing intense resistance from Maharashtra Navnirman Sena. The political party has been giving open threats to vandalise any theatre found screening the film.

After Mukesh Bhatt’s meeting with Rajnath Singh, he informed the media that the Union Home Minister intends to speak to the chief ministers of every state personally, to ensure that the film gets a non-violent release across the country.

Karan Johar recently released a video breaking his silence on the Pakistani artistes issue, pleading nationalists to allow his film to release, since it was made during a time when relations between India and Pakistan were cordial.

When I shot my film Ae Dil Hai Mushkil in September to December the climate was completely different. The circumstances were completely different.

According to an Indian Express report, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has also promised the state’s full support to Karan Johar by taking strict a action against MNS. A group of 12 party workers, who tried to enter Metro theatre in south Mumbai this morning asking the management to not screen the Karan Johar film, were detained at the Azad Maidan police station.

The police have taken strict action against MNS today. Twelve members of the MNS who had gone to Metro Theatre to threaten them, have been sent to judicial custody until November 4.

Under Section 151 (3) of the Criminal Procedure Code, the trouble makers were rounded up and detained on the suspicion that they would create a law and order situation when released. While the arrested MNS members were granted a bail of Rs 5000 each, they will remain in detention until November 4, as their bail bonds can only be executed after their 15 day detention period is over.
