After a full worldwide casting search, Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios announced that British actor Tom Holland will play Peter Parker aka Spider-Man in the next Spidey film. The film will be directed by John Watts and will hit theatres on July 28th 2017. If you are wondering who the hell Tom Holland is, here goes:

Remember the Ewan McGregor and Naomi Watts’ film The Impossible (2012), based on the 2004 Tsunami incident? Well, Tom Holland played Ewan and Naomi’s eldest son in the film!

Too young? Well, he is a big boy now. Hold you breath and scroll down to check out the all grown up nineteen-year-old Tom Holland as he looks now. He will be twenty one by the time Spider-Man hits theatres in 2017.

But you don’t have to wait till 2017 to catch this hottie on the big screen. Holland is likely to first appear as Spidey in a cameo in Marvel’s upcoming Captain America sequel, Civil War, which is scheduled to release on May 6th 2016, with stand-alone Spider-Man films to follow.

As Tom Holland puts on his Spider-man mask, check out the last two Peter Parkers.

First up Tobey Maguire, he was the first actor to ever play the superhero on the big screen. After films like Pleasantville and The Cider House Rules, the Spider-Man trilogy shot Maguire to fame as Spider-Man (2002) became a huge success. He reprised the role in the sequels Spider-Man 2 (2004) and Spider-Man 3 (2007), and has also provided the voice of Spider-Man for the video game adaptations of the films.

Fresh after an appearance in the film, The Social Network, Andrew Garfield replaced Tobey in two Spidey films, The Amazing Spider-Man (2012) and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014). Garfield was cast as Peter Parker, opposite Emma Stone who played his love interest, Gwen Stacy, and today they real life couple as well.
