BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari on Wednesday, 14 July, moved the Supreme Court seeking the transfer of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's petition against his election from Nandigram constituency outside the state.
Adhikari, a former close aide of Banerjee who joined the BJP in 2020, is currently the Leader of Opposition in the Assembly. He had defeated Banerjee in a closely contested election by a margin of 1,956 votes. Banerjee had moved an election petition in the high court challenging Adhikari's election victory.
