UP Polls: BJP’s ‘Nationalism’ Up Against Mahagathbandhan’s Stats

In the seventh and last phase of elections, eight crucial seats in Uttar Pradesh go to polls, where it's BJP vs the Mahagathbandhan.

These eight seats in the Purvanchal region will witness a tough fight:

• Ghazipur
• Chandauli
• Mirzapur
• Sonbhadra
• Ballia
• Maharajganj
• Kushinagar
• Gorakhpur

In this phase, apart from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, there are some other strong candidates in the fray:

• Mahendranath Pandey from Chandauli
• Manoj Sinha from Ghazipur
• Anupriya Patel from Mirzapur
• Ravi Kishan from Gorakhpur

Despite talks of Congress fielding Priyanka Gandhi, finally it was Ajay Rai who got the nod. From the SP-BSP combine, Shalini Yadav is contesting. Like Rai, she is no heavyweight either.

In such a scenario, a victory seems almost certain for Modi. But Team Modi is worried about the victory margin.
