The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) won the 2018 state Assembly election by a landslide, emerging victorious in 88 constituencies of the 119-seat Assembly. The party is set to form its second successive government in Telangana.
What Exit Polls Predict
While two exit polls predicted that the TRS led by K Chandrasekhar Rao will get a clear majority to form the government, three others have predicted a hung Assembly. The Congress-led Prajakutami is expected to trail behind the TRS.
We Will Play 'Vital Role' in Govt Formation: Telangana BJP President
Predicting a fractured poll mandate in Telangana, the BJP Sunday, 9 December, claimed that it would play a "vital role" in the formation of the next government in the southern state, where the TRS is eyeing a return to power.
"We have contested the election on our own for the first time after a decade. We have contested the polls to win. The BJP will be part of the government. Without the BJP, there cannot be any government. What happens after the results are declared, we will think of it," state Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president K Laxman told PTI.
He asserted that the saffron party had become a formidable force in Telangana and that it would increase its vote share substantially and its number of seats considerably.
"We have surely become a formidable force in Telangana. We will increase our vote share and even the number of seats. The BJP is definitely going to play a very vital role in the formation of government," Laxman said.
Telangana Elections 2018: The Main Contenders
The main contenders for this election remain the KCR-led TRS, which was in power for the last four years, and the Congress-led 'Prajakutami' (or 'Grand Alliance'), which included the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) among many others.
The BJP, although not a main contender, is expected to swing some percentage of vote share its way. In all, there are now as many as nine political parties vying for power in the state.
Owaisi Meets KCR Day Ahead of Poll Results
AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi reached Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao's official residence on his motorbike on Monday, 10 December for a luncheon meeting with him ahead of the declaration of Assembly election results.
Owaisi and the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) chief have been discussing possible scenarios and the strategy to be adopted after the results are known on Tuesday.
Before his meeting with KCR, Owaisi tweeted that he was going to meet Telangana's caretaker and "next Chief Minister"

Congress-led People's Front (Prajakutami), that includes Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Communist Party of India (CPI) and Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS), on Monday met with Telangana Governor, Narasimhan and submitted a representation of the pre-poll alliance of the four parties.

Telangana Police Issue Traffic Advisory
The Telangana Police have issues a traffic advisory for Thursday, 13 December, on the account of KCR’s oath taking ceremony.
Traffic blocks can be expected from 12 pm to 3 pm along the Raj Bhavan road from Monappa Island (Rajiv Gandhi Statue) to VV Statue Junction. Citizens taking this route are being forewarned that vehicles may get diverted or stopped and will be allowed to pass only on need basis along this route, the traffic advisory said, The News Minute reported.
The route from Panjagutta to Raj Bhavan Quarters Road (Metro Residency) will also reportedly be closed for general traffic on both sides of the road during the period.
