A complaint has been filed against Congress President Rahul Gandhi over his 'New India' tweet on the Indian Army's Dog Squad doing yoga on 21 June, news agency ANI reported on Monday, 24 June.

Advocate Atal Bihari Dubey has filed a complaint against Rahul in Mumbai’s Azad Maidan police station.

However, the details and nature of the complaint were not immediately known.

As the fifth edition of International Yoga Day was celebrated with much gusto across the country on Friday, 21 June, Rahul had put out a cryptic tweet about the event. Sharing two pictures of the Army Dog Unit practising yoga, Rahul captioned it rather concisely as 'New India.'

It's not clear if the tweet was intended to ridicule the Indian Army, but newly-elected Bharatiya Janata Party MP for Bengaluru South Tejasvi Surya was quick to lash out against the Congress chief, saying "he has insulted our army, brave jawans, the incredible dog unit, Yoga tradition & our country."

The pictures, which Gandhi posted, were initially put up by the official Twitter handle of the Defence spokesperson with the caption 'Army Dog Unit practices Yoga for #YogaDay2019..."

‘Same/Shame Rahul’

Soon enough, the tweet went viral, and several prominent users, from Sambit Patra to Paresh Rawal, slammed Gandhi for his post.
