Counting of votes for Lok Sabha 2019 elections officially ended a day after the NDA registered a historic victory. The National Democratic Alliance was able to secure 352 seats and UPA was nine short of scoring even 100 seats.
The Bharatiya Janata Party won 303 seats, whereas the Congress was restricted at 52 seats. Akhilesh and Mayawati’s SP-BSP duo was only able to score 15 seats, with BSP winning 10. The BJP secured 62 of UP’s 80 seats.
Mamata Banerjee’s All India Trinamool Congress secured 22 seats. In Tamil Nadu, MK Stalin’s Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam lead in both Lok Sabha elections result by winning 23 seats and Tamil Nadu by-polls.
Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party, Biju Janata Dal and Telangana Rashtra Samithi got 43 seats, out of which Y S Jaganmohan Reddy’s YSRCP alone managed to secure 22 seats in Andhra Pradesh.
Congress witnessed a huge loss with its president Rahul Gandhi losing the Amethi seat to BJP’s Smriti Irani by over 55,000 votes. However, he was able to secure the Wayanad seat beating CPI's PP Suneer by over 43,000 votes.
All of seven Parliamentary seats in Delhi went to the BJP, with AAP coming third in the race.
The Shiv Sena-BJP duo won 41 of the 48 seats in Maharashtra, where the Congress was only able to secure one seat from the Chandrapur constituency.
BJP’s Pragya Singh Thakur won from the Bhopal constituency against Congress’ Digvijaya Singh by 3,64,822 votes.
