Not Snake Charmers, India is Now About 'Mouse charmers': Modi Takes Dig at Priyanka

A day after Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra impressed photographers during an interaction with snake charmers, PM Modi accused her of projecting an image of the country that did not sit well with the reality.

“Now it is 'mouse charmers' and not 'snake charmers',” Modi said on Friday, referring to the young Indians in the IT sector.

He did not directly name the Congress general secretary.

Photojournalists covering Priyanka Gandhi's election campaign in her mother Sonia Gandhi's constituency of Rae Bareli had caught her talking with snake charmers on Thursday.

EC Extends Time Given to Rahul to Reply

The Election Commission accepted the Congress’ request seeking extension till 7 May for filing reply to the notice issued to Rahul Gandhi on 1 May over his impugned statement made in Shahdol, Madhya Pradesh. He was earlier given 48 hours to reply.

PM Modi Given Clean Chit for Over MCC Violation Complaints in Nanded, Varanasi

The Election Commission gave Prime Minister Narendra Modi clean chit on two complaints filed by Congress alleging he has violated MCC in his election campaigns in Nanded and Varanasi.

A total of five clean chits so far have been given to PM Modi by EC on the complaints of MCC violations.

'Only a Strong Govt Can Take Decisions on Surgical Strikes, Air Strikes': PM Modi

Addressing a rally in Rajasthan’s Bikaner, PM Narendra Modi said “only a strong government can take decisions on surgical strikes and air strikes.” Slamming the Congress, he claimed:

“Congress couldn’t stop India’s share of river water flowing into Pakistan… The Congress government did not acquire the property of those who went to Pakistan after Partition, delayed it due to vote bank.”
