While campaigning for the Lok Sabha elections continues, the Election Commission’s list of complaints on its website does not include one which was made against Prime Minister Narendra Modi for violating the model code of conduct, and is said to be “missing”, according to an NDTV report published on Wednesday, 24 April.

The complaint, made by Kolkata resident Mahendra Singh, was in connection with PM Modi’s rally in Maharashtra’s Latur, wherein he asked people to dedicate their votes to those who were martyred in the 14 February Pulwama attack, as well as the cross-LoC air strikes in Balakot.

According to Singh, when he checked the complaint on the website, the status that is showed was “resolved”. Singh’s complaint is among more than 400 others that have been filed with the poll body this election season.

The Election Commission, in response, has said that the status should been shown as “details forwarded to ECI headquarters” on the National Grievances Service portal instead of “resolved”.

“Explanation of the concerned officer has been called through CEO Maharashtra by 1 pm tomorrow (Thursday),” the EC added.

Earlier, an EC official cited by NDTV claimed that the incorrect status was due to a “technical glitch”, adding that a report from the Maharashtra electoral officer in connection with the speech was being considered.

Notably, the report on PM Modi’s Latur speech had been submitted by the district election officer and given to the EC earlier in April.
