Unable to get a few scrapped currency notes exchanged, a frustrated poor woman went topless in protest outside the RBI regional office in New Delhi on Wednesday.

The woman, who was with her child, was in tears when the RBI guards turned down her repeated requests to allow her to exchange her invalid notes. At first, she sat outside the entrance gate in protest.

When the guards tried to move her away from the entrance by force, the woman took off her clothes. She then sat topless in front of the iron gate, stunning onlookers as well as the security personnel.

Later, the RBI guards called the police. She, along with her kid, was later bundled away to a police station. This ended the surcharged drama at the high-profile building which is just a stone's throw away from Parliament House.

Many others who had come to exchange their old notes said the government should not go back on the promise made by PM Modi in his November 8 address to the nation that old notes could be exchanged at select RBI offices till March 31.
