After pulling off one of the country’s finest wins in Test cricket (India beat Australia in the second Test by 75 runs), the Indian cricketers were honoured for their performances in the 2015-16 season in Bangalore on Wednesday.
India’s skipper Virat Kohli bagged the Polly Umrigar Award for being the best international cricketer in the particular season and Ravichandran Ashwin won the Dilip Sardesai Award for his performance in the four-match Test series against West Indies in 2016.
Mithali Raj, Jalaj Saxena, Axar Patel, Shreyas Iyer and Shahbaz Nadeem were among other notable winners at a ceremony held at the Ritz Carlton Hotel.
Former India wicket-keeper Farokh Engineer gave the MAK Pataudi lecture during the ceremony.
