Former Santosh Trophy footballer, E Hamsakoya, who had tested positive for coronavirus, passed away early on Saturday, 6 June, at a hospital in Malappuram, taking the death toll due to the infection in the state to 16.
A native of the Parappanangadi town in Malappuram, Hamsakoya (61) was settled in Mumbai. He and his family had come down to his hometown on 21 May and had been under quarantine.
Five of Hamsakoya's family members have also tested positive for coronavirus and are undergoing treatment.
