On Tuesday, Tamil star Dhanush reached the Madras High Court with his parents for a hearing in the most peculiar case.
An elderly couple had filed a petition against him, alleging that he was their son and Dhanush was in court to debunk that claim.
He had to prove that he did not have the identification marks put forth as proof by the complainants.
The couple had sent him a legal notice last year and demanded that he pay maintenance of Rs 65,000 per month to them. They alleged that he had run away from their home in Melur, while he was studying in class 11, to join films in Chennai.
Dhanush, the son-in-law of superstar Rajinikanth, had in January last moved the court, seeking quashing of the trial case pending in a lower court in Melur.
In his counter, Kathiresan, the man claiming to be Dhanush’s father, submitted that there was a possibility of disfiguring the ID marks, and simply filing it through an affidavit will not prove the petitioner's case.
He also submitted that the birth certificate filed by the actor was not genuine, and his name and the registration number were not mentioned in it.
In the school transfer certificate, it was mentioned that Dhanush belonged to the Scheduled Caste.
However, film director Kasthuri Raja, who claims to be the actor's biological father, belonged to Naicker community (BC) from Theni district, Kathiresan claimed.
The family card filed to substantiate that Dhanush belonged to Kasthuri Raja’s family was also manipulated, he alleged.
