If you just read the headline, you will realise that the name of this car is quite a mouthful – Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 4Matic Coupe. Try saying that in one breath! Besides, this SUV-coupe crossover is actually breathtaking. And at a price of Rs 74.8 lakh, ex-showroom, it is an interesting vehicle for an enthusiast, who would otherwise turn to sports sedans or performance SUVs.
The Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 Coupe combines the sleek lines of a sedan, with the high ground clearance of an SUV, and the swept back coupe styling. This is the brand's second sports SUV-coupe after the Mercedes AMG GLE 43 Coupe launched earlier.
Why the AMG GLC 43 Coupe is Special?
The Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 4Matic Coupe is powered by a 3-litre, V6 bi-turbo petrol engine tuned by AMG. This pumps out 367 bhp of power and a whopping 520 Nm of torque. It is mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission and Mercedes' 4Matic all-wheel drive system. Just so that this engine is music to your ears, Mercedes has tuned the exhaust system to include the pops and bangs from the engine – something that will excite enthusiasts.
That combination can propel the AMG GLC 43 from 0-100 kmph in about 4.9 seconds, claims Mercedes. It comes with multiple drive modes including Comfort, Sport, Sport Plus and Dynamic, which allows for variable assist rates on the steering and suspension.
It comes with Mercedes' Air Body Control suspension, which helps in altering ride quality especially for bad roads – as this crossover SUV can handle both track outings and moderate off-road terrain.
Design and Feature Highlights
The Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 Coupe comes with the full AMG kit, which includes custom spoilers and airdams, contoured bonnet with 'power domes', diamond-pattern grille. It also has a large sunroof. It is equipped with full LED headlamps that can sense driving conditions and adapt the amount of light needed.
The interiors sport black and red leather upholstery, with electrically adjustable front seats. It is kitted out with a host of safety features as well. These include Mercedes' trademark attention assist function – that detects if a driver is drowsy, tyre pressure monitoring, adaptive braking, seven airbags, 360 degree parking camera and ambient lighting.
In addition, Mercedes has thrown in comprehensive service packages ranging from Rs 2.45 lakh for 3 years or 60,000 km to Rs 3.7 lakh for 4 years and an extended warranty for Rs. 1.51 lakh.
Overall, for the price, this is quite a fun package for individuals who want a sense of speed and adventure. The Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 4Matic Coupe has no direct rival. That's what makes it special.
