Harish Iyer is an activist for a number of socio-cultural and environmental issues. He is an equal rights activist, known for his campaigns for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender (LGBT) community.

Dear India,

I want you to invent a new word for tolerance and when we are at it, I want to tell you how I’ve been tolerating heterosexuals all my life.

I want you to not “tolerate” homosexuals but return the favour. We have been tolerating you all this while.

I want you to kiss goodbye to Section 377 because Section 377 doesn’t penalise homosexuals alone, it penalises any kind of unnatural sex.

Whether you do it with a man or a woman, whether you are a man or a woman or a transgender; Section 377 says that the penis can go only into the vagina and no other place. So, if it goes in any other place – you go to jail!

Yours truly,

An empathetic, homosexual Indian.

Audi India is proud to be a part of India’s progressive growth and salutes the spirit of India.

(Do you ever feel like talking to India? Yes, perfect. This is your chance to write to her to tell her how you feel about her. You could be bitchy, angry, happy, emotional or spoofy. But if your answer is No – never mind, there is always a beginning. Let’s start here. Send us what you want to tell your India and we will publish it. Don’t be shy, just say it all. Mail us your letter at lettertoindia@thequint.com. We’ll ensure India gets your message.)
