Nupur Sharma, the young neta from the ruling party loves India unconditionally but is distressed to hear some Indians labelling India as “intolerant” and acting and reacting selectively over issues, for purely personal and political gains.
Sharma wishes India to be more peaceful and happier.
Dear India,
  Â
I write to you as a daughter, with a glimmer in my hopeful eyes, for a better future and better times for us ahead.
I grew up as you did. You matured and I learnt restraint from you. I watched you shine, I watched you suffer, I watched you remain strong in the face of adversity and the most trying of times, but yet never giving up even once.
You gave your sons and daughters like me the privilege of being born on your soil and becoming part of the rich culture and heritage that can put many a nation to shame. I have come across many friends from foreign shores, jealous of me and my sisters and brothers, and continually asking in wonder how you could hold such a diverse set of us, your children, together.
While I am sure many like me grew up to love you unconditionally, with a sense of purpose and service towards you, quite a few, unfortunately, are still out there to cause grief to you.
Some of your children continue to lay down their lives at our borders for your love and to protect your honour and some are toiling day and night to bring laurels in your name and world-wide acclamation.
And then are some who, perhaps, have never understood your sacrifice irrespective of the adulation and recognition that you have caused to be bestowed on them or they have received due to you, causing you irreparable harm.
I know my Dear Mother India, it must really be distressing to hear some of your children labelling you as âintolerantâ and acting and reacting selectively over issues, for pure personal and political gains. I know how bad it must feel to witness them deliberately and unfoundedly turn one against the other to prove their political loyalties and for vote-bank gains. I know Mother India, these are not the children you ever wanted to breed who fight each other as if to go their separate ways. I know you have always wanted to bind us and keep us all together as one big family because as you taught us â unity is strength. I also know you never thought that some of your own would be blind to their own faults and look for deficiencies in others where none exist and create tensions with malafide intentions.
But believe me, your good children are always with you and wouldnât ever allow these hypocrites to run amok over your soul and we will continue to fight for your integrity and honour. I can assure you that as long as those of your children that truly love you live, they will ensure your respect, and the morals and values you brought them up with, remain intact.
Wishing you and wishing us on our 66th Republic Day, the very best, for peaceful and happier times ahead.
With love and utmost regards,
Your daughter,
Nupur Sharma
