Salman Khan’s scant regard for critics and film reviews is no big secret. The media got a cheeky response when the star was quizzed on Friday about the not so impressive reviews that his new film Tubelight was getting.

The critics were really good. I was expecting minus 3 and minus 4 but they gave 1, 1.5 apparently, so I am very pleased.

The actor was present at an event to announce an association between his foundation Being Human and the PVR group.

When asked about the kind of response he was getting for the film, Salman said, “As per reports people are saying they can not see 'Bhai' (Salman) crying. So I asked, are they (audience) laughing and the answer was "no, they are crying". So I said don't worry about it."

Tubelight has not created the kind of fan frenzy that we usually see around a Salman Khan Eid release. Here’s a look at what the public at Mumbai’s Gaiety theatre said about the film after the first day first show.

While the audience largely had a mixed response to the Kabir Khan film, here’s what Salman Khan had to say about the feedback he received:

As it is an Eid release, people have preconceived notions and plans to throw coins, sing and dance at the cinema hall. So they have gone to watch a certain film but get to watch another film. This film is not of a kind which you watch with your buddies as you will not get an opportunity to dance or have fun. It is a very emotional film. Even an emotionless, stone hearted person will get tears in his eyes. So this is an emotional film to be seen with parents, grand parents and entire family.

All said and done, Tubelight is not getting the kind of overwhelming positive response that Kabir and Salman’s previous collaboration Bajrangi Bhaijaan had received. But ‘Bhai’ is not worried: "Look at me, are there any sign of worries on this face. I am not bothered, I know the film will do well and will be a hit and get lot of respect," said Salman when asked if he was worried about the Tubelight failing at the box-office.

The makers of Tubelight would be hoping to score more than Aamir Khan’s blockbuster Dangal, but as of now that looks like a difficult feat.
