This historic, record-breaking figure of over 9000 screens would also mean that Baahubali 2 could be looking at a monstrous first day opening collection at the box-office. According to a report in Firstpost, this is how much distributors have coughed up for the theatrical rights of the sequel.

Theatrical Rights of Baahubali 2

  • Andhra Pradesh + Telengana = Rs 130 crore
  • Tamil Nadu = Rs 40 crore
  • Karnataka = Rs 45 crore
  • Kerala = Rs 13 crore

The theatrical rights for the Hindi film market remain with Karan Johar, who is also the presenter of the Hindi version of Baahubali 2.

The money earned by the satellite rights of the Prabhas, Rana Daggubati-starrer are also worth a mention. Sony TV has reportedly picked up the Hindi language TV rights of Baahubali 2 for Rs 51 crore, while the Sun TV network is in talks to buy the rights of all the 4 south Indian language versions for as much as Rs 80 crore.

Baahubali: The Beginning is said to have made around Rs 650 crore at the box-office, and film trade pundits are saying they won’t be surprised if the sequel grosses Rs 1000 crore.
