According to reports, SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus Baahubali 2 could hold a record for being released in the highest number of screens ever in India. The number being tossed around is close to 6500 screens for this Prabhas, Rana Dagugbatti and Anushka Shetty-starrer. Chennai-based film industry tracker, Ramesh Bala, tweeted the number out on Thursday morning:

Director SS Rajamouli had also confirmed recently that the film would have an IMAX version as well.

Baahubali 2 releases in 4 Indian languages - Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi on 28 April. The film’s trailer is now the most watched ever on YouTube with over 87 million views (all language versions combined).

The number of screens being over 6000 is significant when it’s compared to a film like Salman Khan’s Sultan which released in 2016 in over 4300 screens across India, which was the highest for a Bollywood film.
