The almost 200-year-old Presidency College, now University, has always been a hotbed of student politics. From the Naxalbari Movement in the ’70s, to movements shaped around the Singur and Nandigram incidents, Presidency students have actively engaged with the polity. The institution has also produced some of the most prolific political minds of our generation.

The Quint spoke with young voters from the university as the West Bengal state assembly elections are underway. They spoke of the present Trinamool government, their electoral choices, issues they think should take centre stage in political and civil society discussions, and of course, student politics.
