1. Rahul’s Cryptic ‘New India’ Yoga Day Post Draws Tweeple’s Ire

As the fifth edition of International Yoga Day was celebrated with much gusto across the country on Friday, 21 June, Congress President Rahul Gandhi put out a cryptic tweet about the event.

Sharing two pictures of the Army Dog Unit practising yoga, Gandhi captioned it, rather concisely, as ‘New India.’

It's not clear if the tweet was intended to mock, but newly-elected Bharatiya Janata Party MP for Bengaluru South Tejasvi Surya was quick to lash out against the Congress chief, saying "he has insulted our army, brave Jawans, the incredible dog unit, Yoga tradition and our country."

Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on Friday, introduced a fresh Triple Talaq Bill in Parliament. "This is not a matter of religion, caste or community. It is a matter of a woman's dignity and integrity," he said.

Prasad called Congress' opposition regrettable and said, "a woman leader like Sonia Gandhi ji leads the Congress party, yet the same party takes an anti-women position in the Lok Sabha, opposing even the introduction of the bill. I must say it is not only painful, but deeply regrettable."

Now releasing in Hindi with Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani in the lead and directed by Sandeep Vanga himself, the movie is a frame-by-frame and scene-by-scene copy of the original.

4. India Look to Follow England With Run-Fest Against Afghanistan

The scoreboard may need as much preparation and maintenance checks as the wicket ahead of the anticipated run-fest when India seeks to follow title rival England by thumping Afghanistan at the Cricket World Cup on Saturday, 22 June.

India and England remain the bookmakers' favourites to contest the 14 July final at Lord's. That's despite unbeaten New Zealand and a genuinely resurgent Australia, which has lost only one of its six games, that loss against India.
