Your Google Photos Images & Video Will Not Sync to Drive From July

Google Drive has a separate folder on its platform for Google Photos.

Google Photos has been a vital tool for smartphone users to save up on storage space and gain access to images and videos on any other devices.

Until now there has been a seamless integration between Google Drive and Photos where images have synced between the two, however that feature is coming to an end from July this year.

Google claims that it has received feedback from consumers about having a “confusing” experience with this option.

Google is eliminating the option where Google Photos will no longer sync with Google Drive. Subsequently, if you delete images from Google Drive, the same images (on Photos) won’t be deleted.

We’ve heard that many of you would like more granular control when copying photos and videos from Drive into Photos. So we’re bringing a new feature to <a href="http://photos.google.com/">photos.google.com</a> called “Upload from Drive,” which lets you manually choose photos and videos from Drive, including “Shared with Me” items, to import into Photos.

Post the rollout of the updates, all the photos and videos you add to the Drive will not reflect on Google Photos and vice versa. This design has also been implemented to prevent accidental deletion from both the platforms.

All the items that you choose to upload on the Drive will be imported in original quality and will count towards your storage in Drive and Photos.

Also, it was told that the Backup and Sync tool will remain functional for Mac and PC. All existing photos and videos that were synced in both the platforms will remain as they are. The “Google Photos” folder which is in Drive will also be there unchanged.
