England were reeling at 200 for seven in 41 overs in their 286-run chase, when Australian pacer Jason Behrendorff was handed the ball for the 42nd over, his ninth of the day.

Adil Rashid and Chris Woakes had together added just 11 runs while the 29-year-old Behrendorff had already picked up three wickets.

After taking two singles on the first two balls of the over, Woakes smashed the third delivery over leg side. In most scenarios, the ball would gone for a massive six but a running Glenn Maxwell managed to get hold of it and just as his momentum was taking him over the boundary, flicked it to captain Aaron Finch who was standing behind him.

The relay catch saw Chris Woakes walking back to the hut for 26 and England reduced to 202/8 in 41.3 overs, still needing 84 runs off 51 balls.

While Maxwell and Finch made the catch look effortless, social media was completely mind blown. Here’s a look at some of the reactions to it.

The Australians went on to beat England by 64 runs and become the first team to qualify for the World Cup playoffs. The five-time champions defended a total for the fourth consecutive match, making 285-7 stand tall by bowling out England for 221 with 5.2 overs to spare. Fast bowler Jason Behrendorff claimed a maiden 5-for while Mitchell Starc grabbed four to lead the tournament wickets list with 19.
