The Academy Awards 2018 offered something for everyone – from highlighting Hollywood's sexual misconduct scandal to recognising first-timers, LGBT movies, films about other cultures, to even having a few laughs about last year's best-picture goof-up.
Women filmmakers and artistes of colour celebrated a year of diversity, saluting the #MeToo movement against sexual harassment and urging underrepresented artistes to seize the momentum.

World War II period drama Dunkirk won the Oscars for Best Film Editing, Best Sound Mixing and Best Sound Editing.
Three Billboards, the tale of an angry woman seeking justice for her daughter's killer, scooped two awards – Frances McDormand won the Oscar for Lead Actress while the Best Supporting Actor award went to Sam Rockwell.
Futuristic sci-fi drama Blade Runner 2049, a sequel to the 1982 classic, won the Oscar for Best Cinematography and Visual Effects.
Coco and Darkest Hour also won two awards each, with the Pixar’s fantasy winning Best Animated Feature and Original Song. The period film on Winston Churchill won the Best Actor and Best Makeup awards.
