The Shape of Water bagged top honours at the 90th Academy Awards, with awards for Best Picture and Best Director for Guillermo del Toro. The fantasy film also took home awards for Best Original Score and Best Production Design.

And the Best Picture Goes To...

Guillermo del Toro’s ‘The Shape of Water’ takes the Oscar home for Best Picture. The film received 13 nominations at the 90th Academy Awards, including Best Original Screenplay, Best Actress for Hawkins, Best Supporting Actor for Jenkins, and Best Supporting Actress for Spencer. Other than Best Picture, the film won for Best Director, Best Original Score and Best Production Design.

Frances McDormand Wins Best Actress for 'Three Billboards'

This is McDormand’s second Academy Award. She also earned the Golden Globe and BAFTA for best actress for her role as Mildred Hayes in the film.

Winner: Best Original Score - 'The Shape of Water'

French composer Alexandre Desplat, who has won an Oscar for The Grand Budapest Hotel, has previously worked on several popular Hollywood films like The Queen, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Godzilla, Zero Dark Thirty and The Imitation Game.

Winner: Best Original Screenplay - 'Get Out'

Get Out has been nominated for four Oscars at the 90th Academy Awards – Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actor. Get Out is a 2017 racial satire and was a huge blockbuster, grossing $255 million worldwide against a production budget of $4.5 million.

Winner: Best Adapted Screenplay - 'Call Me By Your Name'

James Ivory, 89, took home the screenplay award for Call Me By Your Name. The film has been nominated for three Oscars, including Best Picture and Best Actor.

Winner: Best Live Action Short - 'The Silent Child'

The Silent Child is about a deaf 4-year-old girl named Libby, who lives in a world of silence until a caring social worker teaches her to use sign language to communicate.

Winner: Best Documentary Short - 'Heaven Is a Traffic Jam On the 405'

Heaven Is a Traffic Jam On the 405 follows artist Mindy Alper, who has spent her life creating remarkable works of art, despite a lifelong struggle with depression and anxiety.

Winner: Best Editing - 'Dunkirk'

This is Dunkirk’s third Oscar so far. Does it brighten the Christopher Nolan film’s chances for a Best Picture? Dunkirk has 8 nominations at the 90th Academy Awards including Best Cinematography, Best Picture and Best Director.

Winner: Best Animated Feature - 'Coco'

Pixar’s Coco wins Best Animated Feature at the Oscars 2018 - this was a no-brainer. This is the ninth Best Animated Feature win for Pixar, out of the company’s 11 nominations.

Winner: Best Supporting Actress - Allison Janney

Allison Janney wins her first Academy Awards for Supporting Actress for performance in I,Tonya. She played the role of LaVona Fay Golden which earned her numerous other accolades including a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress – Motion Picture, the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role, the Critics' Choice Award for Best Supporting Actress and the BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role.

Winner: Best Foreign Language Film - 'A Fantastic Woman'

A Fantastic Woman revolves around a transgender singer who faces scorn and discrimination after the sudden death of her older boyfriend.

Winner: Best Production Design - 'The Shape of Water'

#MeToo, Moonlight-La La Land Gaffe in Kimmel's Opening Monologue

Jimmy Kimmel kicked off his second stint hosting the Oscars with a joke about last year's 'Envelopgate' gaffe. Reminding the nominees about the Moonlight-La La Land mixup, he says: “I do want to mention: This year, when you hear your name called, don't get up right away".

Kimmel also hailed the importance of the #MeToo movement, saying: “What happened with Harvey Weinstein and what’s happening all over is long overdue".

US President Donald Trump also found a mention, with Kimmel saying: “This broadcast is being watched live by millions of Americans and around the world in more than 225 countries that now hate us. And I think that is an amazing thing.”

Best Supporting Actor goes to Sam Rockwell for Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.

In a touching acceptance speech Rockwell dedicated his Oscar to “my old buddy Phil Hoffman”.

Backstage, in an interview with Bravo, Rockwell said, Hoffman directed him in a play  — The Last Days of Jidas Iscariot. “He could talk the talk but he could also walk the walk. . .He was a powerful, emotional guy, and a real mentor, even though we’re the same age,” he said.

American actor, director and producer Philip Hoffman died of an overdose in February 2014.
