Is it true?: No, the viral claim is false.

  • In reality, the clip shows a scripted video and not a real incident of a woman marrying her father.

How did we find out the truth?: At the 33-seconds mark in the video shared by Singh, we noticed a disclaimer popping up at the bottom of the screen.

  • While the disclaimer was mostly covered by text, its bottom line mentioned the name 'Ankita Karotiya'.

Taking screenshots from this video, we ran a reverse image search on Google, adding the name as a search term.

  • The results led us to a woman's Instagram account and YouTube channel bearing the same name.

  • Her Instagram account's bio mentioned that she is a video creator, identifying herself as a Delhi-based 'prankster'.

The account belongs to a content creator.

On the channel, we came across a longer version of the viral video, which was shared on 2 November 2024.

Here, we saw that the disclaimer had clarified that the video was "for entertainment purposes only," confirming that the video was a scripted one.
