A video showing a scuffle between two groups is being widely circulated on social media, with users claiming that it depicts Samajwadi Party (SP) workers attacking All India Imam Association(AIIA) President Maulana Sajid Rashidi in Noida, Uttar Pradesh.

  • The incident took place after a news channel debate, where Rashidi had reportedly made derogatory remarks about Samajwadi Party Member of Parliament Dimple Yadav.

  • Those sharing wrote, "Akhilesh Yadav has maintained silence over the insult of Dimple Yadav but now SP is not leaving the Maulanas alone brother. Today another Maulana was beaten up by SP workers" (sic.)

Is the claim true?: No, this claim is misleading as the video does not show the incident involving Maulana Sajid Rashidi but is actually old and from a different altercation.

How did we find out?: We conducted a Google reverse image search and found the same video posted two months before the Noida studio incident, which happened in July 2025.

  • We found a footage posted on Youtube by NDTV on 30 May that reported an altercation between two groups during a booth-level Samajwadi Party meeting in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, predating the event by a month.

More reports about this ruckus can be seen here and here.

SP workers assaulted Rashidi: We ran a relevant keyword search which led us to the actual video which shows members of Samajwadi Party hitting Maulana Rashidi after a debate at a news channel set in Noida, posted by NDTV on YouTube.

Conclusion: The viral video is not from Noida as it is an older video of a scuffle during a Samajwadi Party meet in Syana, Bulandshahr.
