A video of a woman riding pillion with a child on a bike, falling on a waterlogged road amid heavy rainfall in Indian cities, has gone viral on social media.

Is the claim true?:,No, the claim is false.

  • We were able to trace this video to August 2025 as one from Karachi and not India, as claimed by social media users.

What we found: At first, we divided the video into multiple screenshots and ran a Google reverse image search on some of them.

  • It led us to a Facebook post from 20 August featuring the same video, however, the caption noted that it was Karachi, Pakistan.

  • We also found a post by an X user which also featured the same video noting that it was from Karachi. It was uploaded on 20 August.

  • Using a virtual private network (VPN), we ran a relevant keyword search and found some reports which featured the same viral video in Pakistani news outlets such as Neo News and Capital TV from 20 August.

  • The description mentioned that a woman, holding a child, fell into the rainy water in Karachi.

  • The Dawn reported that Karachi was brought to a standstill by unprecedented downpours that flooded major roads, disrupted power and air travel on 19 August.

  • The massive rainfall also claimed at least six lives and raised alarms about further rains driven by an approaching low-pressure system.

Conclusion: A video from Karachi showing massive flooding on a road has gone viral as one from India.
