Amid tensions between Iran and Israel, a video showing a massive fire has gone viral on social media platforms.

Those sharing have claimed that a large fire erupted and numerous people died as a result of an Iranian missile landing in Tel Aviv.

(Archives of similar claims can be found here and here.)

Is the claim true?: No, the claim is false. This clip shows a fire at Henley College in England. It took place in April 2025.

What we found: At first, we divided the video into multiple screenshots and ran a Google reverse image on some of them.

  • We found a post on X featuring the same video from 4 May. The post noted, "Israel Under Fire: Massive Wildfires Rage Across the Region!" (sic.)

  • This post predates the present situation between Iran and Israel. Hence, we noted that the clip was older than the current conflict which began on 12 June.

  • We looked through the reverse image search results and found a report by The Sun from 30 April and found a frame that matched with the viral video.

Here are the similarities between the two frames.

  • The report noted that a huge fire engulfed a former college named Henley College in Coventry in United Kingdom. However, the building has not been used as a college for three years.

  • Plumes of thick black smoke were visible from miles away, and some residents even lost power overnight.

  • Similarly, the BBC also reported on this incident in April.

  • Reports also stated that the former college building was utilised for the filming of the BBC drama series 'Phoenix Rise'. There were no accounts of any injuries resulting from the incident.

Conclusion: An old and unrelated video has gone viral to falsely claim that it showed an Iranian missile hit Tel Aviv.
