In the run-up to the Bihar assembly elections, a video has gone viral on social media, featuring Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav getting off the party's campaign bus and mounting a horse.

The claim: The video allegedly captures the moment when Yadav fell off the horse. Social media users have used this clip to mock RJD chief and Yadav's father, Lalu Prasad Yadav, alluding to the fodder scam.

  • Users said, “When the horse recognised the fodder thief's son."

The post recorded 382.5K views at the time of writing this story. (Archives of similar claims can be found here and here.)

Is the claim true?: No, the claim is false as this video has been manipulated using artificial intelligence (AI).

  • In the original clip, Yadav did not fall off the horse.

What we found: At first, we ran a relevant keyword search to find out if Yadav met with a situation where he fell off a horse, however, we did not find any credible reports or footage to prove the same.

  • We, then, divided the viral video into multiple screenshots and ran a Google reverse image search on some of them.

  • It led us to a similar video posted by Yadav's official account on X, dated 18 September.

  • It noted, "We will fulfill every promise, this is a promise. Bihar Adhikar Yatra, Mokama." (sic.)

  • Team WebQoof went through the entire clip but did not spot Yadav falling off the horse.

  • We conducted a keyword search and found a report by the Navbharat Times from 17 September.

  • As per the report, Yadav conducted a roadshow and rode a horse in Mokama, considered the stronghold of former Member of Legislative Assembly from the Janata Dal (U), Anant Singh.

  • In this show, he rained down on the ruling CM Nitish Kumar's government.

Anomaly in the viral video: Upon checking the viral clip at a slow speed, we noticed that the moment allegedly falls off the horse, the face appears distorted on the screen.

Here is the marked portion of the anomaly in the video.
