How did we find out the truth?: We performed a reverse image search on some of the keyframes of the viral video on Google lens.
This led us to several social media posts from 23 February 2025 showing the same visuals.
The caption read, “Pakistan is losing its identity! Stop constructing canals from the Indus and let the river flow freely. This is not just JSQM-A’s (Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz, a political party) demand, it is the demand of the entire Sindhi nation!”
It also carried the longer version of the video and in this version, we could noticed a banner that reads “Release Advocate Aamir Umrani.”
The banner can be seen in the video.

Taking a cue, we performed a relevant keyword search and found multiple reports (Tribune India, The Print, and Business Recorder) about these protests.
These reports stated that a protest took place on 23 February 2025 against against the Indus Canal Projects in Sindh, Pakistan.
It added that these protests also demanded the release of missing lawyer Aamir Ali Umrani, "who has allegedly been subjected to enforced disappearance".
This report published on 24 February 2025.

Conclusion: An unrelated video showing a protest is being shared to falsely claim that it shows people demanding "Sindhudesh independence".
