An image of Prime Minister Narendra Modi with Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan Asim Munir is going viral on the internet with a claim that the latter presented "Kashmir map" as a gift to PM Modi.

What did users say?: Those sharing the image have said, ""Indian administered Kashmir". Asim Munir presents Kashmir map as a gift to Narendra Modi."

Is this image real?: No, the image has been generated using the help of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools and does not show a real visual.

  • There is no evidence to prove that PM Modi recently met Munir.

Anomalies in the viral image: Team WebQoof took a closer look at the viral image and found several discrepancies, which indicated that it was generated using AI tools.

  • The text seen on Munir's shirt did not make a proper word, which is a common feature spotted in AI-generated images.

  • The other anomaly was that PM Modi's glasses could be seen merging with his nose.

The image had several anomalies.

What did AI detection tools show?: We passed the image through two detection tools namely — 'Hive Moderation' and 'Sight Engine' to further verify its authenticity.

  • While the first tool showed over 99 percent, the second one gave around 89 percent probability of the image being an AI-generated one.
