A set of visuals showing posters of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, carried by people on the streets, is being widely shared on social media.
The claims: Both visuals are being shared to claim that they show recent visuals from the anti-corruption protests in Nepal, where protesters have called for leaders like PM Modi and CM Adityanath.
(Archived versions of more posts sharing these claims can be seen here, here, here, and here.)
But...?: Neither of the posters are related to the recent protests in Nepal.
The photo showing CM Adityanath's poster dates back to March 2025, predating the protests by six months.
The other visual showing a banner with PM Modi's face is from May 2025 and shows visuals from Sikkim, not Nepal.
How do we know?: We examined both claims separately and here's what we found.
A simple reverse image search on the post showing Adityanath's photo led us to a website which had shared a similar image on 9 March 2025.
Its title mentioned that Yogi Adityanath's posters were displayed at a pro-monarchy protest in favour of former Nepali King Gyanendra Shah.
The report was from March 2025.

We then looked for more information using the keywords 'Yogi Adityanath Gyanendra Nepal'.
This took us to a report by BBC Hindi, which said that the poster was raised in Kathmandu, when the former king arrived at the Tribhuvan International Airport during a protest favouring the return of monarchy.
The report said that the poster caused some controversy.

The image was also seen in a news report by Firstpost.
We also found a similar image shared by Getty Images in March 2025, confirming that it has no connection to the recent protests.
The image was published on 9 March 2025.

One of the claims sharing PM Modi's banner showed a clear image, where we noticed that the banner actually read "Sikkimese Limboo Tribe," "Sikkim," and carried the national emblem.
The image mentioned Sikkim.

Taking a cue from this, we ran a search using the keywords, "Sikkimese Limboo Tribe welcomes PM Modi."
This led us to an Instagram reel shared on 29 May 2025, posted with the caption "Indigenous Limboo Tribe warmly welcome HPM sh.Narendra Modiji (sic)."
According to the government of Sikkim's social welfare department's website, the Limboo tribes are descended from ancient mongoloid Indians who inhabited the Himalayas.
Another video shared by the Facebook page for the Sukhim Yakthung Sapsok Songchumbho community shared a similar video as one by the "Indigenous Primitive tribe of Sikkim," on 30 May.
It said that PM Modi was set to visit the state on 29 May to commemorate the 50th anniversary of its statehood, but could do not do due to adverse weather conditions.
The post identifies the Limboos as a primitive tribe from Sikkim.

The state's Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang had also shared a post welcoming PM Modi to the state in May.
These posts make it evident that not only is the video not from Nepal, but it is also not recent.
Conclusion: Old, unrelated visuals of UP CM Yogi Adityanath and PM Modi are being falsely linked to the recent protests in Nepal.
