Old Clip of Pappu Yadav Singing Bhajans Linked To Recent Meeting With PM Modi

This video dates back to April when Yadav participated during the Shobha Yatra for Lord Ram.

Social media users have shared a video of Congress-affiliated Independent Member of Parliament from Purnea, Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav, dressed in saffron and singing religious music during a rally.

Users claimed that Yadav changed his political stance after his brief interaction with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the inauguration of the new airport in Purnea on 15 September.

Is the claim true?: No, the claim is false.

• The visual shows a Ram Navami Shobha Yatra that occurred on 6 April, during which Pappu Yadav participated in parades and spoke to crowds at various sites in Purnea.

What we found: At first, we divided the video into multiple screenshots and ran a Google reverse image search on some of them.

• It led us to a post by Yadav on Facebook which featured the same viral video however, it was dated 7 April.

• This post predated the inauguration of the airport by PM Modi in Purnea.

• Yadav also posted the same viral video on his Instagram page on 7 April, as well.

• We also found a news video released on the YouTube channel of Bharat TV 24 on 8 April, showcasing the same viral images.

• They reported that Yadav participated in the Shobha Yatra celebrated on Ram Navami on 6 April.

• He joined the crowd in chanting praises of Lord Ram at multiple sites such as Durga Sthan Madhubani, Madhubani Bazaar, Municipal Corporation Chowk, RN Shah Chowk, Bhatta Bazaar, and Rajni Chowk.

Conclusion: Clearly, the claim is false as this video is from April and not from the time when the airport was inaugurated by PM Modi in Purnea.
