A photo of cricketer Mohammed Siraj carrying the national flag, while people can be seen surrounding his vehicle, is being shared to claim that it shows him receiving a grand welcome after India vs England test series.

What have users said?: Those sharing the image have uploaded it with a caption that said, "Mohammed Siraj returns to a hero's welcome in Hyderabad. #INDvsENG #Muhammadsiraj #PAKvsWI."

What is the truth?: The image dates back to July 2024, when Siraj had received a grand welcome in Hyderabad after India's victory at the 2024 T20 World Cup. This makes the claim misleading.

How did we find that out?: Using the help of Google Lens, we conducted a reverse image search and found a similar visual posted on the official Instagram handle of Dainik Bhaskar.

• The post was shared on 6 July 2024.

• Its caption in Hindi when translated to English said, "Fast bowler Mohammed Siraj reached his hometown Hyderabad for the first time after winning the World Cup. Here a large number of fans welcomed him. See photos..."

News reports: We found a report published in Economic Times published on 6 July 2024, which carried the same visual.

• The report said that a large number of fans turned up at the airport in Hyderabad to shower the cricketer with love and support after India's victory at the 2024 ICC T20 World Cup.

• NDTV had shared a video report on their official YouTube channel that showed visuals of the grand welcome that Siraj had received after arriving in Hyderabad in 2024.

Conclusion: It is evident that the image is old and is unrelated to the recently concluded India vs England test series.
