A video which purportedly shows former adult star Mia Khalifa praising Indian cricketer Hardik Pandya and calling him as her favourite cricketer is going viral on social media platforms.

What did the viral post say?: The clip carried text that said, "Former Adult Star Mia Khalifa reveals Hardik Pandya as her favourite cricketer."

Is the video real?: No, the video has been manipulated using the help of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools. The original clip, which dates back to May 2023, did not show Khalifa mention Pandya.

How did we find that out?: On closely looking at the clip, we found that Khalifa's lip movement did not match the words that were heard.

• This led us to perform a keyword search using the words "mia khalifa interview". We found the full-length version of the clip uploaded on a verified YouTube channel named 'The Diary Of A CEO'.

• It was posted on 18 May 2023 and its title said, "Mia Khalifa Opens Up About The Dark Side Of The Adult Entertainment Industry | E248."

• We went through the entire length of the clip, but we did not find any mention of Pandya or Khalifa talking about cricket.

Comparing visuals: Team WebQoof compared the visuals available in both the clips and found that they were from the same interview.

What did the detection tool show?: We passed the video through an AI detection tool named 'Hive Moderation', which showed over 99 percent probability of the video being an AI-generated one.

The tool said that the video likely contained deepfake content.

Conclusion: It is evident that the video has been manipulated and does not show a real instance of Mia Khalifa calling Hardik Pandya her favourite cricketer.
