Amid recent reports of India releasing water from the Uri Dam, which has sparked panic across Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), a video of water flooding an area is being shared as an aftermath of the actions.

What did users say?: Those sharing the clip have uploaded it with a caption in Hindi that loosely translated to, "This is water strike. My lion is sad, he will drown you first then dry you up. He will enter Pakistan and spread terror. You will die asking name, he will kill you after mentioning his religion."

An archive of the post can be found here.

We received a query about the viral clip on our WhatsApp tipline as well. Archives of more such claims could be found here, here, and here.

What are the facts?: The video could be traced back to at least 16 April, which predates the reports of India releasing water from the Uri Dam as well the Pahalgam terror attack.

How did we find that out?: Using the help of Google Lens, we performed a reverse image search on the keyframes of the viral clip and found the same visuals published on an Instagram handle named 'tribunetrends'.

  • It was posted on 16 April with a caption when translated to English said, "Thunder and rains in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa!."

News reports of rainfall in Pakistan: A report published in Dawn on 17 April said that a thunderstorm and a freak hail swept across parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, and other parts of Pakistan.

  • The rainfall resulted in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa experiencing flash floods, which also affected traffic.

  • Aaj TV, too, shared visuals from the flash floods on their official YouTube channel on 17 April.

Conclusion: While we could not verify the location or context of the video independently, it is evident that the clip predates the Pahalgam terror attack and reports of India releasing water from the Uri Dam.
