Fact-Check: This Video Doesn’t Show Pakistan's Attack in Punjab’s Amritsar

We could trace the video back to at least August 2024.

Amid recent escalations between India and Pakistan, a video is now being circulated on social media to claim that it shows recent visuals of India's S-400 in action near Punjab's Amritsar.

Those sharing the clip have captioned it saying, "India’s S-400 in action near Amritsar. At least two JF-17 and one J-10C took down last night. Massive humiliation for Pakistan army and China..."

The above post had gained over nine lakh views on the platform. Archives of similar claims can be viewed here, here, and here.

What is the truth?: The video could be traced back to at least August 2024 and has no connection to the recent escalations between India and Pakistan. This makes the claim false.

What led us to the truth?: Team WebQoof conducted a simple Google Lens search on the keyframes of the viral clip and found the same visuals shared on a Facebook handle called 'Nimco Jirde'.

• It was shared on 4 August 2024.

• The post's caption when translated to English said, "The Israeli military has released a missile defense system that destroys missiles in the air after they fired rockets at Hezbollah militants last night."

News reports: Son Dakika had published a report carrying the same visuals, which said that Hezbollah had launched a large number of rockets towards Israel.

• Most of these rockets were said to be destroyed in mid-air by the Iron Dome. The report was published on 4 August 2024.
