A video showing a a fighter jet being 'shot down by a radar' is going viral online to claim that it shows Pakistan jet JF-17 Thunder was "shot down by Indian Defence".
How did we find out the truth?: We performed a reverse image search on some of the keyframes of the video which led us to several old posts.
The same video was shared on Instagram on 30 March 2025 and 20 April 2025, which predates Operation Sindoor.
However, the posts did not specify any context about the videos.
It is also important to note that these clips are very clear which indicated that this could be a video game simulation and not real footage.
We tried looking for more context about the video and performed a relevant keyword search on Google which led us to several videos about ARMA 3 video game.
These can be seen here and here and we noticed similar radars shooting jet in a very similar manner.
These videos specified that it shows fighter jets getting show down by 'Anti-Air System - Mil-Sim in ARMA 3.
Conclusion: A video game simulation showing a radar targeting a fighter jet is being shared to falsely claim that it shows IAF shooting down Pakistan's fighter jet.
