Old, Unrelated Video Shared as Huge Cloud Formed in Haryana’s Gurugram

Neither is this video recent nor is it related to the rainfall in Haryana.

A video of a huge cloud seen over residential buildings is being circulated on social media platforms with users claiming that the visuals were recorded on 2 September in Haryana's Gurugram.

What are the facts?: The video could be traced back to August 2021 and is reportedly from Ukraine. This makes it clear that the clip has no connection to the recent torrential rain in Gurugram.

What led us to the truth?: A simple Google Lens search on the keyframes of the viral video directed us to similar visuals uploaded on an unverified YouTube channel named 'Meteored'.

• It was posted on 18 August 2021 and its caption said, "Terrifying shelf cloud in Lviv, Ukraine."

• The footage was attributed to one 'Dmytro Shvets'.

Other sources: An online publication named Zaxid.net24 shared a longer version of the viral video on their official YouTube channel on 17 August 2021.

• The video's title when translated to English said, "Lviv was covered by a rare cloud called a "thunderstorm collar." Video of the day."

• Its description said that a rain cloud had former over Lviv that caused a strong thunderstorm.

• A weather forecaster Natalka Didenko told the portal that the cloud was "probably a subspecies of cumulonimbus clouds - a 'thunder collar'."

Conclusion: It is evident that the video is old and predates the recent rainfall in Gurugram, Haryana.
