Is the claim true?: No, the claim is false.

  • The video depicts a demonstration by dairy farmers in the Sabarkantha district of Gujarat seeking an increase in milk prices.

What we found: At first, we divided the video into multiple screenshots and were led to a post on X by the Red Mike, a digital news media portal. It featured the same clip as the viral video.

  • It was uploaded on 21 July with the caption, "Farmers of Gujarat forced to throw milk on the road!"

  • We came across another post featuring the viral video by X user and journalist Awesh Tiwari.

  • The post noted that dairy farmers in Gujarat’s Sabarkantha were protesting against low purchase prices by spilling milk on the streets, with one farmer reported dead during the agitation. Their struggle intensified by rising costs and the United States' pressure to allow cheaper American milk products into India.

  • We ran a relevant keyword search in this matter and found reports by NDTV India and TV 9 Gujarati from July. It mentioned that farmers in the district were spilling milk in protest.

  • As per Gujarat Samachar, demonstrations erupted as the yearly bonus distribution fell from ₹602 crore the previous year to merely ₹350 crore, highlighting a ₹252 crore deficit.

  • The demonstrations intensified due to the demise of a farmer and the submission of a First Information Report (FIR) against 74 leaders, approximately.

  • Around 1,800 milk cooperative societies are involved in the boycott, resulting in a collection decline of more than 1.6 million litres.

Kanwaryatris dispute in Haridwar: While the viral video is not from Haridwar, a fight broke between the devotees and villagers of Padartha.

  • The devotees were allegedly associated with the right-wing group Bajrang Dal. The fight happened over an alleged financial dispute between the two parties. The local police later resolved the matter, reported Dainik Jagran.

Conclusion: The video is from Gujarat showing dairy farmers in protest and not from Haridwar or linked to the Kanwar Yatra.
