A video posted by a page called 'RCB 2025' containing an external link has gone viral on a Facebook.

The video has a graphic poster that reads, "A reward of ₹5000 to the people of India in celebration of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB)'s victory, click to receive money in your account."

Is the claim true?: No, the claim is false. The link in the post showed a '404 error' upon opening.

  • There are no credible reports or information about the franchise offering any such monetary reward following their win.

What we found: At first, we clicked on the link on the post. However, the page showed a '404 Not Found' error.

  • We, then, gathered details about the URL by tracking it on 'WhoIs.Com,' a website that helps with domain names and ownership.

  • The domain was registered on 6 April. The place of registration was Denver, Colorado in the United States of America (USA)

  • Team WebQoof looked up the phone number provided under 'administrative contact,' on Truecaller and found that it was registered as 'Domain Protection Svc Inc' in Aurora, Colorado, USA.

About the Facebook profile: When we looked up the profile on Facebook, no posts or valuable information was available.

  • The page was created on 5 June, two days after the final match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) between RCB and Punjab Kings in which the former emerged as winners.

  • Additionally, the page was registered as a digital creator.

  • We, then, checked the Meta Ad Library to check for any previous advertisements, however, did not find any for this page.

  • To further check, we searched for RCB in this section and found that a page with a similar name and promise about the money had several active Meta advertisements.

Conclusion: A fake link is being shared on social media platforms to lure people with money following RCB's win.
