A video showing ABP News' opinion poll predicting a massive win for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the forthcoming Delhi elections is being shared on social media.

The survey forecasts 49 seats for the BJP, merely 16 seats for the incumbent Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and five seats for the Congress in the 70 seat Delhi assembly.

Is the claim true?: The claim is false.

  • ABP News clarified that the viral graphic is fake. It stated that no such news/opinion poll has been run by ABP news.

What we found: Upon closely examining, we observed inconsistencies in the Opinion Poll data displayed on screen. Although the purported report indicated 16 seats for AAP at the top of the screen, the ticker displayed 15 at the bottom.

Here is the discrepancy in the viral graphic.

  • We, then, undertook a keyword search but, it did not produce any video report related to the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections.

  • We subsequently searched for it on ABP News' official website, but found no such report. The official YouTube channel of the news outlet also lacked any Opinion Poll regarding the elections.

ABP News clarifies: The news outlet took to its official X page and termed the graphic "fake."

  • They wrote, "We will take legal action against such people. You are requested to avoid fake news and trust only our social media handles for correct news." (sic.)
