An image is being shared on social media platforms to claim that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was travelling in a taxi during his official visit in France.

Is the claim true?: No, the claim is false.

• The image has been edited. The original image dates back to 2021 and is not recent.

What we found: We ran a relevant keyword search but did not find any reports or images which showed PM Modi inside a taxi during the official tour.

• Upon closely checking the number plate, we noticed that it mentioned, "Italia," hinting that the photo and/or cab could be from Italy.

• With a keyword search, we found that "La Prima App in Italia per i Taxi" was operated by a cab service called "It Taxi" in Italy.

• Below is a reference of a cab from the same service in Italy. The sticker on the two images matches.

• With the help of a reverse image search, we found an old post by news agency ANI from 2021 featuring four images from PM Modi's meeting with Pope Francis in the Vatican City.

• One image out of the four matched the viral photo; however, it did not have the cab sticker.
